Former Hamshire-Fannett student seeks national attention for fire relief

Posted: Updated:

Former Hamshire-Fannett student,  Tayler Hatcher, came up with the idea to create a video to send to the Ellen Degeneres show in a effort to raise funds for relief efforts followng a fire at Hamshire-Fannett Elementary school.

On Saturday, people in the community were invited to show up at Hamshire-Fannett Intermediate Schoo's playground to record the video. Many showed up with posters and wore blue and gold.

Tayler Hatcher says she  believes this video will promote Hamshire Fannett ISD in a positive light and  could gain extra assistance for the faculty and students. She says she created a YOUTube video in 2012 that got nearly 4 million viewers. Hatcher says that video was featured on the Ellen Degeneres Show.

The fire on March 18th destroyed eight classrooms, the auditorium, and some front offices. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Classes are canceled for Monday and Tuesday next week.
