3-year-old drowns in hole dug for septic tank


TYLER COUNTY - The Tyler County Sheriff's office is investigating into how a 3-year-old fell into a hole being dug for a septic tank and drowned.

According to a press release from the Tyler County Sheriff's Office, the 3-year-old was outside playing with two younger siblings when a parent left to take one of the siblings back inside.

When the adult returned, they found the 3-year-old in the hole that had been filled with water by recent rains. The child was pronounced dead at Tyler County Hospital.

The incident happened at a home off CR 1325 in the Warren area.

The sheriff's office is characterizing the incident as a tragic accident. The victim's name is being withheld until relatives are notified.
