Beaumont firefighters worked a house fire in the city's west end Thursday afternoon.
The house is located at 1385 Howell Street at the intersection with Viking Street. The call came into dispatch around 1:30 p.m.
12News spoke with a neighbor who said the house is owned by a local attorney and his wife. The couple had moved out and was having it refurbished so that it could be rented.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.
A spokesperson for Beaumont Fire Rescue said investigation of the scene determined the fire was caused by a worker using a torch to sweat a pipe joint in a wall. The fire traveled up the wall and into the attic space.
