Early voting machine causes delay in Jefferson County results

Posted: Updated:

Jefferson County Clerk Carolyn Guidry says early voting ballots are having to be retabulated, and that's causing a delay in the vote counting process.

As of 9:15 p.m, no results are available.

Guidry says the process of counting the early votes started at 4 p.m., but at around 7 p.m., she says they noticed a problem with the numbers.

She says the early voting machine at the Port Arthur Library, an early voting location, had not been closed properly.

So she says that's why the process had to be restarted.  Guidry says she has no timetable how long it will take.
