Port Arthur Attorney Langston Adams is now officially the new judge for County Court at Law #3.
Judge Adams was sworn in by 172nd District Court Judge Donald Floyd Friday at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
Judge Adams, who was appointed by Jefferson County Commissioners Monday, takes the bench left open by the death of Judge John Paul Davis.
As an attorney, Adams represented defendants in high-profile cases including Derrick Newman who filed a civil case following his 2007 traffic stop in which video surfaced that shows Newman being struck and tased.
Judge Davis, who served more than two decades on the bench, passed away earlier this month. He was 74.
