PA attorney appointed to fill bench left open after judge's death

Jefferson County Commissioners Monday voted unanimously to appoint a local attorney to fill the County Court at Law #3 bench left open by the death of Judge John Paul Davis.

Commissioners appointed local attorney Langston Adams.

Adams has represented defendants in high-profile cases including Derrick Newman who filed a civil case following his 2007 traffic stop in which video surfaced that shows Newman being struck and tased.

Judge Davis, who served more than two decades on the bench, passed away earlier this month after an official found him unresponsive in his home. He was 74.

Funeral services for Judge Davis were held Feb. 15.
