Port Arthur teacher accused of having inappropriate relationship with a student

12News has learned that a teacher at Tekoa Academy in Port Arthur has been suspended based on a statement made by a teenaged student about an alleged inappropriate relationship.

Chairman of the school board Ronnie Linden confirmed to 12News that the school is reviewing the allegation and is following standard operating procedure, which includes filing a report with the Port Arthur Police Department.

Linden said the report should be filed by Tuesday and a statement by the school will most likely be released at that time. He said school officials are awaiting key information on the case.

Linden told 12News the teacher is female and the student is a male.

Tekoa Academy is a charter school from pre-K to 12th grade.
