UPDATE: Man in custody facing Intoxication Manslaughter charge in connection with fatal wreck

The Port Arthur Police Department tells 12News Leroy Rideaux Jr., 27, of Port Arthur is now in custody facing an Intoxication Manslaughter charge in connection with a fatal wreck that left a  woman dead. 

The victim is identified as Maria Guadalupe Gonzales, 38, of Groves.

The accident happened around 3 a.m. Sunday in the 3900 block of Memorial Boulevard.  A Police spokesperson said Rideaux was traveling north on Memorial Blvd. when he struck a vehicle from behind.  The collision caused injuries to the driver, Gonzales and a 27-year-old male passenger.

Gonzales and the passenger were taken to Christus Hospital St. Mary in Port Arthur. Gonzales had critical injuries and was transferred to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont where she died. The man suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A police spokesperson said Rideaux was taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the collision and it's being investigated as an intoxicated manslaughter case.
