KINDER, LA (KPLC) - An electrical fire forced an evacuation Saturday night at the Coushatta Casino Resort near Kinder.

The fire began around 7:40 p.m. and was confined to an electrical room.

"At no point were patrons or workers in any immediate danger," the Coushatta Tribe said in a news release. "Despite rumors to the contrary, while there was some smoke, there were no explosions and no one was injured as a result of the fire."

Parts of the resort were still without power later Saturday and the casino was not set to reopen until sometime Sunday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
