Victim identified in fatal auto-pedestrian accident in Orange County

A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety has identified a man killed in an auto-pedestrian accident on Interstate 10 Monday night.

The victim is identified as Scott Keisel, 49, of Orange.

The accident happened just after 8:30 p.m. at the Asher turnaround in western Orange County.

According to a news release from the Department of Public Safety, the victim was walking across the westbound lanes of the interstate when he was struck by a 1987 Chevrolet van.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Judge David Peck.

The driver of the van is identified by officials as Gary Oliveria, 55, of Beaumont. 

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
