UPDATE: 2-year-old auto-pedestrian accident victim has died from his injuries

A 2-year-old auto-pedestrian accident victim died from his injuries at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston Sunday morning. 

The boy, identified as Christopher Stelly III, was originally taken to Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth in Beaumont in critical condition following an accident Friday.

Beaumont Fire Dispatch told 12News the accident happened around 6:40 p.m. in the 8100 block of Lawrence Drive in the north side of Beaumont.

Beaumont Police Department spokesperson Officer Carol Riley told 12News that the investigation into the accident is early and no charges have yet been filed.

Officer Riley said the child ran into the roadway and it was dark.  The 44-year-old driver did not see the child.  Officer Riley said it does not appear that speed was a factor.
