Body found under the Rainbow Bridge

A spokesperson for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office told 12News that deputies have recovered a body underneath the Rainbow Bridge.

Deputy Rod Carroll says they responded to the report late Monday afternoon after the Coast Guard found the body at about 5 p.m.

"A United States Coast Guard patrol located a body by the Rainbow Bridge. They contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and we dispatch our Marine division to recover the body. The body appears to be a white male, unknown age at this time, heavily tattooed with a mustache and beard," said Deputy Carroll.

Deputy Carroll said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

Carroll asked that anyone who knows someone who is missing that matches this description to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 409-835-8411.

An autopsy is set to be carried out at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
