Fewer accidents reported so far in second winter storm

Posted: Updated:

The Beaumont Police Department reported 31 accidents in the city by 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. This is significantly lower than Friday's total, which reached upwards of 100 accidents.

It seems drivers listened to warnings from authorities to stay off the roadways Tuesday. The wrecker business had a slower day than expected.

12News followed Eric Roundtree with Chuck's Wrecker Service who came upon a stuck 18-wheeler. The driver got stranded on Beaumont's 16th Street after trying to drive around detours. Roundtree successfully pulled the truck out of the mud.

Roundtree notes the drop in accidents Tuesday to Beaumont Police Department's closure of all city bridges by midnight Monday.

The 18-wheeler was not carrying any hazardous material.
