Accidents, wrecks to be prioritized during Tuesday's winter storm

Posted: Updated:

The Beaumont Police Department expects to have its hands full with roadway mishaps Tuesday. During last Friday's winter storm there were more than 100 accident reports

Police sources tell 12News they will be prioritizing severe injury crashes first meaning that's where wreckers will go first.

If you decide to brave the roadways and find yourself involved in a minor accident and stuck you might be stuck for awhile.

"If you slide off into a ditch Tuesday and you're not injured, you're able to get that car going again and you have caused no damage it might be a better idea to get back in the car and drive away safely," Sgt. Rob Flores said. "You could call for a wrecker but understand those wreckers could be tied up answering other calls for services or might have difficulty getting to you as well."

If you lose control and skid into traffic then call police. If your vehicle is stuck off the roadway and you cannot move it police say its OK to leave your vehicle.

Just be sure to let police know where it is and that you will return when wreckers are more readily available.
