Over 100 traffic accidents due to icy conditions

All of these icy conditions have caused a "blizzard" of highway crashes.  Right now some bridges and overpasses have been sanded, but travel generally remains treacherous.

Early Friday, Interstate 10 at College Street had major delays from people trying to use the service road.

Interstate 10 was closed for several hours.

The eastbound lanes of I-10 were diverted onto Washington Boulevard for a while. The Neches River Bridge was completely shut down.

Beaumont police got 98 reported crashes through 4 p.m. and had 43 unattended vehicles towed.

None of those crashes caused what were considered to be serious injuries.

Jefferson County deputies reported another 30 accidents, the worst possibly being a driver's crash into a bayou near LaBelle Road.

Five crashes were considered major.

Texas DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis tells us in the Beaumont district, they received more than 140 crash calls.
