Beaumont PD welcoming thirteen new officers

The Beaumont Police Department has 13 new officers.

Chief Jimmy Singletary gave the new officers the oath of office at a ceremony held Wednesday morning at the Beaumont Civic Center.

Each of the new recruits will spend twenty-two weeks in a rigorous field-training program.

Here is a list of Beaumont's new officers

-Jeffery Busby is a twenty-seven year old resident of Deweyville. Officer Busby successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology, after which he worked for the Orange Police Department for five years. During that time, Jeffery served as a Field Training Officer and a member of the S.W.A.T. Team.

-John Campbell, III is a thirty-two year old resident of Lumberton. Officer Campbell earned a Bachelor Degree in Communications from Lamar University. John successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology.

-Robert Campbell is a forty-three year old resident of Orangefield. Officer Campbell successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at Orange County Sheriff's Office Police Academy, after which he worked for the West Orange Police Department for eleven years and the Orange Police Department for five years. During his time at the Orange Police Department, Robert served as a Field Training Officer and a member of the S.W.A.T. Team.

-Beau Champagne is a twenty-six year old resident of Lumberton. Officer Champagne earned an Associate of Applied Science in Homeland Security from the Lamar Institute of Technology. Beau also successfully completed the Basic Police Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology.

-Michael J. Deromie, II is a thirty-four year old resident of Lumberton. Officer Deromie served eight years in the U.S. Army as a Corrections Officer. He then earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Kaplan College. Michael successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology.

-Crystal Fielder is a thirty-five year old resident of Mauriceville. Officer Fielder completed the Basic Police Officer Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology.

-Craig Leger is a twenty-four year old resident of Beaumont. Officer Leger attended Lamar University and successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the McLennan Community College Law Enforcement Academy in Waco, TX. Craig worked for the Jefferson County Jail for one year and the McGregor Police Department for two years.

-Amber McMichael is a twenty-six year old resident of Sour Lake. Officer McMichael attended Lamar University and completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology. Amber is also a volunteer firefighter with the Sour Lake Fire Department.

-Deon Simmons is a thirty-nine year old resident of Beaumont. Officer Simmons attended Tyler Junior College and Tarrant County College. Deon successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the North Central Council of Governments Police Academy in Arlington, TX. He worked for eleven years for the Methodist Health Care System Police Department in Dallas, TX as a Patrol Officer and a Detective. Deon also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for twelve years and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005.

-Kirk Smith is a twenty-two year old resident of Orange. Officer Smith successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology. Kirk worked two years as a dispatcher for the Bridge City Police Department.

-Rebekah Stanley is a twenty-four year old resident of Port Arthur. Officer Stanley earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Lamar University and a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Rebekah successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology.

-Gregory Viator, Jr. is a twenty four year old resident of Bridge City. Officer Viator worked as a Correctional Officer for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. He successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology. Gregory worked for two years at the Bridge City Police Department. During that time, he served as a Field Training Officer, a Traffic Unit Officer, and an Active Shooter Instructor.

-Haley Walters is a twenty-three year old resident of Lumberton. Officer Walters successfully completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology.
