Voters will decide if Rose Hill Manor renovation to be funded

Posted:

The city of Port Arthur is taking a step back from its commitment to Rose Hill Manor.

Monday, the city decided to withdraw its support to fund the renovations to the historic landmark and let the voters decide.

In September, the council voted to fix the home for more than $675,000.  But now, the council has decided to let voters decide if the project should be funded.

Possible renovations include fixing chipped paint, rotting wood, and the roof.

The 6,000 square foot house was built in 1906.
