Armed robbers break into home of former Jasper police chief, hold stepson at gunpoint

A spokesperson for the Jasper County Sheriff's Office told 12News that two armed men broke into the home of former Police Chief Rodney Pearson and held his stepson at gunpoint while they took items from the home.

Sheriff Mitchel Newman said the home-invasion happened on Jan. 4 around 11 p.m.

Sheriff' Newman said two armed men went into a house owned by Rodney Pearson in the Ryall Acres subdivision of Jasper. Pearson's adult stepson, Austin Fairchild, was at home at the time and was held at gunpoint while the men stole seven guns from the residence.

The robbers are described as black men wearing black toboggan hats, bandana's on their face, gloves and dark baggy clothing.

Fairchild was able to flee and was uninjured.

Deputies and Investigators are following leads but no arrests have been made.
