State Representative race already heating up

Ten months away from the November general election, the race for State Representative District 21 is already being bitterly fought.

Daniel Miller of the Texas Nationalist Movement has filed a formal complaint with the Texas Republican Party asking that candidate Dade Phelan be removed from the ballot.

Miller argues that Phelan does not live in the 21st district, and falsified his home address during registration.

The complaint has also been sent to the Texas Rangers and Jefferson County prosecutors.

Phelan Tuesday denied the allegations saying he has lived at the address listed since early October, satisfying all Constitutional requirements.

He said, "These attacks come up every election cycle when opponents get desperate and look for an easy out."

Democrat Gavin Bruney and Republican Judy Nichols are also running for District 21 State Representative.
