OKLAHOMA CITY – After a monument of the Ten Commandments was built at the Oklahoma State Capitol, a Satanic group in New York City is asking to have their own monument on the grounds.

The Satanic Temple is wanting to donate a public monument to Oklahoma's Capitol Preservation Commission to "complement and contrast the Ten Commandments monument that already resides" on the grounds.

In a message on the group's website, it references a lawsuit filed by the ACLU, which noted, "the monument stands alone, with no other monuments or memorials in the immediate vicinity."

The temple's message stated in part, "By accepting our offer, the good people of Oklahoma City will have the opportunity to show that they espouse the basic freedoms spelled out in the Constitution."

The Satanic Temple says that the monument will be a public-friendly design and will be an "object of play for young children."

The group is seeking $20,000 in donations to erect the statue.
