Two Beaumont Officers become sergeants


Two Beaumont Police Officers are now Sergeants following a promotional ceremony Friday.

Officer Veronica Payton and Officer Randy Moss were officially announced as Sergeants at the ceremony.

Officer Payton has been a police officer for 23 years. She hired on with Beaumont P.D. in April 1990. She has worked as a field operations officer for 22 years and as a public information officer for 1 year. She has master peace officer certification and patrol rifle certification. She is an instructor and field training officer.

Officer Moss has been a police officer for 20 years. Moss started his career with Port Arthur P.D. in 1994 (2 yrs), then hired with Beaumont P.D. in 1996 (18 yrs). He has been a member of the Street Crimes Unit, SRT and SWAT. He is a Specialist and has been assigned to the criminal investigation division as a burglary detective, assigned to the family violence unit as detective and also a narcotics investigator. He is a firearms instructor, ALERRT Active Shooter Instructor and Situation Instructor and has master peace officer certification.
