UPDATE: Bond is set on Nederland man accused of stealing motorcycle and fleeing police

Bonds totaling $8,000 have been set on a Nederland man, who Beaumont police say stole a motorcycle from a convenience store Friday morning.

Police say the owner of the motorcycle went into a store on the corner of Interstate 10 and College Street to withdraw cash from an ATM when Clarence Holland stole it.

Police chased the 30-year-old Holland after he took off down the I-10 service road in front of Carrabas Restaurant. He hit a car on the service road, ditched the motorcycle and fled into the woods behind the restaurant. Police were able to eventually arrest him in the 4300 block of Corley.

He has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest and causing an accident involving damage.

Holland is currently in the Jefferson County Jail.
