All roads are now open and the shelter in place has been lifted following a fire at the Axiall refinery in Westlake.

A Calcasieu Parish school official said students will be released but some buses will be running late. All roads are now open and the shelter in place has been lifted following a fire at the Axiall refinery in Westlake.

A DEQ official said they don't think any chemicals were released so far and they're on the interstate testing air quality right now. A supervisor said they haven't picked up any chemical release from the plant but are still testing.

The plant was evacuated following a fire at a PHH unit holding hydrochloric acid and vinyl chloride. The fire started at about 1:30 p.m. Friday.

No injuries have been reported, plant officials said. The fire may be contained at this point.

Hazmat teams with the State Police were among the responders. The all-clear has not yet been given.
