Police search for gunman after shooting at Roger's Park

Beaumont police are looking for a suspect in a shooting that took place in Roger's Park Thursday evening.

A police spokesperson said that two men were in the park playing basketball when they were approached by two other men who arrived in separate cars; a silver-gray Impala and a gray Mitsubishi Eclipse.

A verbal argument escalated into a fist fight, and afterwards one of the men who drove up shot one of the basketball players in the leg.

The victim was taken to Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth with non-life-threatening injuries.

The identity of the shooter is known, but the name is being withheld until the investigation is over.
