Beaumont woman says thieves stole her holiday decorations and Christmas spirit

Posted: Updated:

A Beaumont woman woke up to find that thieves had stolen her Christmas display from her front yard.

Brenda Samuel lives on Broun Street in west Beaumont, and says her husband had just put up the five Christmas inflatable characters Wednesday evening.  She says the only thing the thieves left behind were the hooks that hold the inflatables in place.

Samuel said she's been building up the display the past few years and the inflatables are not cheap.   She  estimates her loss to be at least $250, but she says what hurts the most is that it's robbed her of her Christmas spirit this year.

Samuel says she's lived at the house for 22 years, and always decorates, but she says not anymore.

She's filed a police report, but was told it would be unlikely to recover her display.

She says she's learned that in addition to being popular targets for thieves, the inflatables also are targets for vandals, some who shoot at them to deflate them.
