Secret Santa plans to surprise more shoppers at area Market Basket stores

Posted: Updated:

He's not through spreading holiday cheer.

Thursday, 12News first reported about a man who had gone into two area Market Basket stores and bought groceries for random customers.

The man, who wants to remain anonymous, has spent about two thousand dollars total at both stores, the Market Basket in Port Neches and the one on 11th Street in Beaumont.

With that money, he's bought groceries for at least 20 shoppers.

But he plans to continue, at least according to a friend of the Secret Santa.  That friend contacted 12News after our report aired, and told us the good Samaritan intends to go to four or  five additional Market Basket stores this holiday season to repeat his act of kindness.

The friend told us the Secret Santa has chosen Market Basket, because it is a local grocery chain, and he wants to help local business.

We're told he's a business owner himself, and that because he had a successful year, he wants to share his blessings.
