The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 in Vidor had to be closed late Wednesday after a car hit an 18-wheeler.
The accident happened at mile marker 863.
A Department of Public Safety spokesperson told 12News the driver of the 18-wheeler was trying to merge into traffic from the shoulder when a woman driving a silver Chrysler hit the back of the truck.
Rescue workers had to use the jaws of life to get the woman out of the wreckage. She was taken by medical helicopter to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
