PORT NECHES -
The Port Neches Groves Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Monday against giving the Groves Middle School principal power to correct grades.
The reason behind Monday's agenda item was not made public. It was discussed by trustees in closed session.
Agenda item F specifically stated consider approval of determination that grades issued by a teacher are either arbitrary, erroneous or not consistent with district grading policy.
The board voted unanimously to decline it.
The following item was the actual one that would have given the Groves Middle School principal the ability to correct grades that fit that description.
There was no vote on it since item F did not pass.
Before voting on the item did cause at least one teacher to speak out to board members with concerns.
Superintendent Rodney Cavness tells 12News that he couldn't speak about it because it is related to a personnel issue.
