Jasper child taken to Houston hospital as officials investigate child abuse case

Posted:

Jasper police officers and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services are investigating a case involving injury to a child.

Jasper Police Chief Robert MacDonald said Friday that a mother brought her child to a Jasper area hospital on Wednesday for medical care. The mother then filed a police report regarding her child's injuries.

Due to the seriousness of the child's injuries, the child was taken via Air Rescue to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.

Police notified the Department of Family and Protective Services.

Chief MacDonald said officers are still early in their investigation and have not yet had a chance to interview the mother because she is in Houston. They are allowing DFPS to interview her first.
