Family's attorney says Texas Rangers now investigating Jasper man's death

An attorney for the family of a missing man whose body was found this week says the Texas Rangers is now handling the investigation.

The Bernsen Law Firm issued the following news release Tuesday:

BODY OF ALFRED WRIGHT, JR. FOUND – INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Their worst fears realized, the family of Alfred Wright is now looking for answers. Alfred's body was discovered yesterday by volunteers searching an area where the family had been asking the Sabine County Sheriff's office to search for weeks, but they refused, having called the search off after three days. The family is very grateful for all of the assistance they have received from the community and now from the Texas Rangers, who begin the investigation today into what exactly happened to Alfred on November 7, 2013.

Many theories have been offered to understand Alfred's disappearance and now death, but the family is particularly aggrieved by the story that Alfred was on bath salts. This story was apparently simply a supposition by an overzealous private investigator and had no basis in fact. Attorneys for the Wright family specifically reject any suggestion that Alfred was on bath salts or that bath salts somehow played a part in his death.

After the body was discovered in the late afternoon yesterday, Mr. Wright's father, in an act of pure selflessness, spent the night in freezing temperatures, guarding the body waiting for the Rangers to begin their investigation at first light. This family is in the grieving process and as such, they request that all media requests be directed to the offices of the Bernsen Law Firm.
