Thousands of dollars worth of equipment stolen from church

Posted: Updated:

Police are searching for thieves who broke into a Beaumont church and stole thousands of dollars worth of music equipment.

The west Oakland Baptist Church, located at 3325 Saint James Blvd, was broken into late Wednesday night.

Pastor James Segura says the thieves kicked in the back door and stole speakers, a pa system, two keyboards and all six of their microphones.

Segura says whoever took the equipment knew exactly where everything was plugged in and how to remove it.

He says now is the time for the community to ban together to make sure these thieves don't strike again.

Pastor Segura says the equipment that was stolen cost about $4,000.

He now plans to install heavier locks and a security system.
