BOSTON -- The Red Sox made a change to their rotation for the American League Championship Series, going with Clay Buchholz in Game 2, the pitcher told reporters Friday.
The move means John Lackey will likely start Game 3 in Detroit against Tigers ace Justin Verlander. Lackey struggled on the road this season, going 4-10 with a 4.48 ERA in 16 starts. In the ALDS, the Red Sox started him in Game 2 at home and Buchholz in Game 3.
The Red Sox had previously announced Jon Lester would pitch in Game 1 on Saturday at Fenway Park. Detroit will likely start Anibal Sanchez in Game 1 and Max Scherzer in Game 2.
