BEAUMONT -

The wife of a Beaumont man who was found dead in a wading pool along with his three-year-old daughter on October 10, said he posted a picture of himself and the girl on Instagram shortly before the drowning was reported.

Traveth Quinn, 31, and his daughter Legend Quinn, 3, of Beaumont, were found in the wading pool at Alice Keith Park in Beaumont.

A police spokesperson said their deaths are suspicious citing that both were fully clothed and they did not have a car or any other form of transportation at the pool.

12News spoke to Traveth's wife Lillie Quinn who said she last spoke to her husband at 10:23 a.m. when she called him on her break. She said they were on their way to the park. The bodies were reported in the pool at about 10:45 a.m.

She showed 12News a picture that was posted to Traveth's Instagram account around that same time that showed Legend riding her father's shoulders.

Lillie said Traveth appeared to be in good spirits when they talked, and they both ended the conversation with an "I love you."

12News also spoke with Traveth's mother Thelma Johnson, who said she last saw her son and granddaughter at about 6:30 Thursday morning as Johnson left for school.

"She (Legend) put her little hands to my face and said 'Granny, I love you," said Johnson as she described the last time she saw her granddaughter. Johnson said she then told Legend that she loved her more and would see her soon.

Johnson described Traveth as a very caring son and wonderful father to Legend. She said Legend was a very happy baby who knew how loved she was.

Police are trying to determine a timeline of events leading up to their discovery in the pool.

A City of Beaumont maintenance worker at 10:45 a.m. was checking the grounds of Alice Keith Park located at 4050 Reed Street when he saw a man floating face down in the wading pool.  The worker approached and saw that the arm of a child sticking out from underneath the man. The worker immediately called 911.

Paramedics attempted to revive both but failed.  The victims were taken to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont where they were pronounced deceased shortly after noon.

The pool was not open to the public.

Jeremy Espree lives near the pool.  He told 12News he was returning home from school and saw the park surrounded by police and other emergency vehicles.  He said they had a drowning at the pool in June and he was sure that someone else had lost their life.

"Everyone is like, Oh my God it could be somebody I know, it could be one of my best friends, you never know.  Everyone is heartbroken," said Espree.

Espree said the pool is always locked this time of year and someone had to cross over a gate.

An account has been set up to help with funeral expenses at Bank of America. The account number is 488037441144.
