(KCEN) – They're rough, they're tough, and they're ready to show off their rodeo ridin' and ropin' skills at this year's Heart O' Texas Rodeo.
On Sunday the rodeo kicked off at 7p.m. with some of the best cowboys and cowgirls from across the nation competing for a total of half a million dollars and the All American ProRodeo Finals national championship title.
These competitors who make up ten teams will compete in seven different events including barrel racing, bull riding, bare back riding, saddle bronc, and others.
"This is one of the most unique formats we get to deal with," famous rodeo announcer Randy Corley said. "Every night whatever audience is here they get to see our winners because we pay out money every night. It's money won that advances them to be back with us on the final Saturday night."
In order for these contestants to even be eligible for this national championship title, the competitors had to have competed in at least 30 qualifying rodeos. This rodeo finals is also one of only three finals in the nation.
"It really is one of the best weeks of rodeo," Corley said.
The rodeo will continue every night this week and end with the finals on Saturday. Admission is included with your fair ticket price each night except for the finals.
