(KCEN) -- West residents will start to see relief funds soon.
On Thursday, the West Long Term Recovery Board announced they are getting close to distributing funds for those affected by the fertilizer plant explosion.
They're also putting together an "Un-Met Needs Committee" to go through the hundreds of cases, to determine where the money should go.
"We're trying to be able to stretch the funds as far as possible. We've got a little over 3.5 million, best estimates put the total need at something in the neighborhood of 30 million, and that's why we're asking outside funders to come in and help us," says Ronnie Sykora.
So far, 110 homes have been demolished and 150 building permits issued.
Demolition of the high school building will begin next month.
The city also announced construction will start on the new nursing home at the beginning of the new year.
