Deputies looking for former Vidor man accused of sexually assaulting young girls

The Orange County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a man who they say sexually assaulted two young girls in 2004 and 2005.

Deputies say Robert Gehagan, 58, is wanted for two counts of sexual assault of a child. They think he may be in the area of Ponchatoula, LA and may be working as a handyman.

Prosecutors say Gehegan was living in a shed behind a friend's home back in November of 2004 in Vidor when he began sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl. When family of the victim returned and told Gehegan that charges were filed, he immediately packed up his possessions and fled.

Investigators say when they were working on the first case, another 8-year-old girl was also being assaulted. They say they have exhausted all leads and are asking the public's help in locating Gehagan.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Corporal Darrin Mooney with the Orange County Sheriff's Office at  409-883-2612 or 409-233-9220.
