Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Police are investigating a possible shooting at the intersection of 12th and Speight in Waco.

Police received a call around 5:30 p.m. that a group of men had started fighting one or two victims near 12th Street and the I-35 bridge.

One of the suspects pulled out a handgun.

One victim ran for cover behind a car. Police say that victim told witnesses he had been shot before getting into a black car and fleeing the scene.

The first responding officer spotted a group of men when he arrived and saw one suspect throw a handgun over the bridge. The armed suspect was arrested.

Police are still searching the area for evidence as well as the other suspects involved in the fight.

There is no word on the victim. Police are waiting to see if any local hospitals receive patients with gunshot wounds.
