'Baby Faith' now breathing on her own

A spokesperson for the Department of Family Protective Services Friday confirmed to 12News that 'Baby Faith' was taken off of a ventilator and is now breathing on her own.  She remains listed in stable but serious condition.

"She is healing but has a long way to go.  So many things could still happen, the brain trauma is the biggest concern," said Shari Pulliam with DFPS.

"This in no way means she is out of the woods," said Pulliam.

According to 12News file stories, authorities said one-month-old Faith Mason suffered a total of 19 fractures including broken arms and legs, a dislocated shoulder and blood on the brain.  She was first taken to Christus Hospital St. Mary in Port Arthur on  Aug. 18, then airlifted to Texas Children's Hospital.
