A man who kept Port Arthur police at bay for nine hours back in December 2012 was sentenced to nine years Wednesday.
Walter Moore was originally charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a public servant and one count of aggravated kidnapping.
Moore had pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault of a public servant. He did have one condition: to be sentenced by a jury.
Wednesday, that happened in Judge John Steven's courtroom.
Investigators say he was holed up in a home in the 2500 block of 61st Street with his two-year-old niece inside.
He released the toddler unharmed before surrendering to police.
