One person is dead following a house fire in Batson.
Shortly before 11 a.m. firefighters with the Batson and Saratoga Fire Departments responded to the blaze with assistance from the Hardin County Sheriff's Office.
The house is located at 18456 Gusher Road off of Hwy 105 in Hardin County.
A spokesperson for the Hardin County Sheriff's Office has identified the deceased as Jack Hanks, 86. His body was found near the front door.
"He was a very nice fellow," Reverend James Coots told 12News Tuesday.
Coots is the pastor of United Pentecostal Church in Batson where Hanks was a member.
"He had several children, his wife had died several years ago," said Coots. "
He was in church Sunday morning, and we're going to miss him, and we regret this so very deeply," he said.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but it is believed to have started in the kitchen.
An autopsy has been ordered.
