Some Port Neches citizens are anxious for a planning and zoning meeting scheduled for Monday.
The commission will decide whether to recommend that city council rezone 2.5 acres of land for a riverside restaurant.
A petition to oppose the planned Neches River Wheel House was given to the Port Neches city council before a public hearing on a zoning request for the business. Citizens were offered several chances to speak for or against the zoning request but only two did.
Instead most citizens showed their opposition on the petition.
Rezoning the 2.5 acres of land needed for the restaurant is the next step moving forward with the project.
Some citizens say they aren't so much against adding the restaurant near their homes. But they feel they are being left out of the loop and aren't being told specifics of the project.
This feeling is shared with at least one person on the Planning and Zoning Commission who said at Thursday's meeting that the commission had no details on the project.
The commission will meet on Monday in Port Neches Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m.
