A Southeast Texas soldier Wednesday was able to share in the birth of his child thanks to Skype.

Staff Sgt. Guy Simon could not be at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont with his wife Sparkle Simon for the big day because he is stationed more than 6,000 miles away in South Korea.

Sgt. Simon was able to see and hear as Hayleigh Faith Simon came into the world.  Mom was able to see Sgt. Simon as well as she clutched her iPad.

Sparkle and Guy have been married for six years and have two other children, Kyleigh Simon, 5, and Kynsleigh, 2.

Baby Hayleigh was born around noon.

Mom and baby are doing fine.
