Bond on 17-year-old murder suspect set at $500,000

A 17-year-old from Orange is held on a $500,000 bond on a murder charge after officers found a dying man inside a burning car earlier this week.

An officer was called around 11:45 p.m. Monday to a car fire at the dead end of Adams Street.  Once on scene the officer saw a 2008 Chevrolet Impala on fire with an unresponsive man in the front seat.  The officer was able to get the man out of the car.

While the Orange Fire Department put out the fire, the man was taken to Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital Orange where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Subsequent investigation revealed the man died of a gunshot wound.

Police identify the victim as Dominique Marquis Janise, 19, of Orange.

On Tuesday, detectives identified Morris as a suspect and obtained a murder arrest warrant.

The investigation is ongoing.
