Hardin County Sheriff's Office identifies victim in shooting death

A spokesperson for the Hardin County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who was shot to death Saturday evening.

The victim is identified as Mark Curran Neff, 58.

Around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, deputies and investigators were called to a home on Coleman Road off Wingfield Drive near Lumberton.  This is located near the Neches River.

When deputies arrived they found Neff's body.  It appears he died from gunshot wounds.

Three guns were found at the scene and deputies found spent shell casings.

A news release from the Sheriff's Office said people at the scene told investigators that Neff and the homeowner got into a fight when, 'firearms were produced from both sides and multiple shots were fired."

An autopsy is being performed at the Jefferson County Morgue.

No other information has been released on the investigation.
