At least one dead, two injured in Denver Shooting

DENVER - There was an active shooter in the 2200 block of South Irving Street in southwest Denver Friday morning.

According to police on the scene, a suspect was holding a "long gun" in the middle of West Evans Avenue near South Irving Street. When police arrived on the scene, the shooter shot at a propane tanks in the middle of the street. Neither of the tanks blew up.

At 12:15 p.m., police said there are other "incendiary" devices in the area of the shooting.

Police said the gunman called police and said he wanted to get in a shootout with them.

Denver Police tweeted at 11:16 a.m. that the shooter was "down."

The gunman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police advised people in the area to stay indoors while they attempted to get a handle on the situation. No police were injured during this incident.

Authorities said the area was secure at 11:29 a.m. The case is being investigated as an officer-involved shooting.

After the suspect was shot, police went to the home where the shooting took place and found one woman dead at the home and another woman shot. The injured woman was taken to the hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.
