Copper thefts cost Beaumont ISD, taxpayers $33,000

Posted: Updated:

A spokesperson for the Beaumont Independent School District said administrators promise to have air conditioning up and running by the first day of school at four campuses.

This comes after the campuses had insulated copper wire stolen.

Bingman Head start was struck Tuesday night. Over the past two weeks, BISD police say thieves have also targeted Fehl-Price Elementary, Vincent Middle School, and the Paul Brown Alternative Center.

BISD says the total amount of damages is $33,000.

The district's police force has made arrangements to add more patrols around campuses.

Detectives are following up on leads and are searching for prints on some evidence left behind at Bingman.
