Separate lawsuits filed against Carnival Cruise Line

Posted: Updated:

Carnival Cruise Lines is declining to comment on two pending federal lawsuits filed in Beaumont. In one, Beaumont Family Eye Care and Dr. Peter Cass are suing for an economic loss.

Dr. Cass treated his staff to a cruise aboard the troubled Triumph in February. But an engine fire cut off power to the ship and it floated at sea for days before being towed to Mobile, Alabama.

Dr. Cass had to close his business for a week because of what happened. He tried everything else to recuperate his losses and a lawsuit was a last resort.

20 others are suing Carnival in a separate lawsuit. They claim similar problems including negligence. The suit specifies what each person suffered aboard Triumph like sickness from the smell of raw sewage and bruises from falling.
