Brick bandits creating fear in neighborhood in Orange

ORANGE -

Police have no leads as to who is using bricks to terrorize a neighborhood in Orange.

Two homes were targeted early Thursday morning.

It was shortly after 2 a.m. when Erin Jackson heard a loud crash and the sound of glass breaking.  The next thing she saw was her fiance, 25-year-old Timothy Belfry,  bleeding.

Jackson said someone had thrown three bricks at their home in the 400 block of Azalea Avenue.

Two bricks missed, but the third crashed through the front window, striking Belfry in the head.

Jackson says, "It chipped his teeth, busted his head open and his face is swollen now."

Headphones hit by brick

But Jackson says it could have been worse, if her fiance had not been wearing headsets.  The headsets took the brunt of the brick's impact.

Also targeted was a home just a couple of blocks away on Bowling Lane.

Two bricks were thrown inside that house, but no one was hurt.

Jackson believes more than one person is involved to be able to carry all the bricks, and she says they could be kids.

Neighbors believe the bricks are taken from neighborhood gardens.

Police ask anyone with information on these crimes to contact the Orange Police Department.  That number is 409-883-1026.
