One dead in Liberty County auto-pedestrian accident


The Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal auto pedestrian accident that happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on FM 160 N. near the Raywood Grocery Store at FM 770.

According to Sheriff's Cpl. Kevin Theiss, it appeared that the driver of a white Ford Explorer was heading north on FM 160 and the vehicle struck a woman in the roadway.  The impact knocked her into the ditch on the west side of FM 160.

Liberty County EMS arrived but the victim was deceased at the scene.

Investigators have asked that the name of the victim be withheld pending notification of next of kin.
