All I-10 westbound traffic Thursday morning had to be diverted at the College Street exit so that crews could start clearing an 18-wheeler that caught fire near Washington Blvd.
Beaumont Police Sgt. Rob Flores told 12News at 8:15 a.m. that all lanes of the interstate have re-opened.
At about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, an 18-wheeler that was westbound had mechanical difficulties that caused the brakes to overheat. That resulted in a small fire that disabled the truck in the traffic lane.
The Beaumont Fire Department responded and put out the fire. The driver was not injured.
The truck, which was hauling sugar, had to be offloaded which delayed its removal from the roadway.
